Apps & AI (MCP)

WidgetsByScott is built to be driven by other software, not only by hand.

Consumer apps

Other apps connect as consumer apps, each authenticated with an API key (managed in the admin area). With a key, an app can create and render widgets on behalf of your account — which is how widgets made here appear inside other byscott apps and in AI chat responses.

AI and MCP

WidgetsByScott exposes an MCP (Model Context Protocol) integration, so an AI agent can create chart widgets, list what exists, and update or delete them through conversation. This is the same surface the in-app Widgets AI uses — ask it to build a chart and it creates a real widget you can then view or embed.

Together these make WidgetsByScott a shared visualization layer: define a widget once, and apps or AI can render it anywhere.
